Cancún: the jewel in the crown

This recent photo clearly shows Punta Cancún (foreground) and the restored beach heading south. View a (dazzling) larger version.

Beach looks great - is there any construction still taking place? What about construction in the town - can we see photos of this? Thanks!

Hi John - Jason has just returned from Cancun and commented on the construction work still ongoing. Half a dozen of the higher-end hotels remain closed. No major works taking place downtown to my knowledge.

John - you’ll see from Mel Zelniker’s post yesterday that there is some ongoing work. Quite a bit of it. Mel adds…
Construction of the time-share emporium meant to replace the northern half of the Sheraton property is just starting and is in the ‘ugly’ phase: demolition and excavation… There are a couple of other sore spots, but if you know when to blink or swivel your head, you can miss them. I reckon it will be another six months before things are absolutely pristine.

Can you tell me how construction is going on the new Beach Palace. We usually come there in February and are wondering if it will be ready for guests.
